"Some stories don’t begin with a plan" - This was something I heard randomly, I don't know when but it stayed in my mind till now. The thought? idea? it somehow came while I was passing by from my old tuition building. My book "The Building Across My Window" was born not out of ambition, but out of observation.
There are moments in life when stillness speaks louder than the actual movement. When you are not chasing deadlines or conversations, but simply existing in a place doing nothing. That's what my protagonist was doing in the story- 'Just Existing' & 'Observing'. Writing a debut book is rarely about confidence (Taking a leap); it is about courage. The courage to sit with your thoughts, to revisit memories you never planned to reopen, and to trust that your quiet observations might resonate with someone else and be something.

Who is Yash Gadade?
Yash Gadade is a marketing professional who works while doing his MBA. He also writes 3 blogs: The Eternal Texts, The YG Take and Offshore Scribe along with AAFT Blogs. Leaving that aside He also wrote a book called "The Building Across My Window" and Co-Authored "The Miles Between Us". About starting with creativity he also has his song available on Spotify.
This is my information in shortest way possible. As it was my debut book - I wanted the protagonist to be me and look the world around as I do.
Why I Started Writing This Book
When I started I was sure I am not going to write a novel but a story which will be short yet meaningful and till the end this thing was sure in my mind. But like many debut authors, I carried emotions that didn’t know where to go, unspoken thoughts, unfinished conversations, and memories that lingered longer than they should. Writing became my refuge. Sentence by sentence, I began turning solitude into structure and that structure turned out to be a story which is now "The Building Across My Window".
Observation to Storytelling
As I said, the story was about my tuition building which was different back then and now it's totally different- Observing that was my first thing. I was standing below that building noticing everything that was changed and every window which I can observe. All those windows you see & read in book are real windows.
This book explores how small observations often carry the deepest truths.
As a writer, I learned that I don’t always need dramatic events to tell you a meaningful story. Sometimes, all I need is honesty and that's what I followed.
What The Building Across My Window Truly Represents
At its core, this book represents perspective. A building can be just a structure or it can be a symbol. A window can be just glass or it can be a frame through which life unfolds. This story invites readers to slow down, observe, and reflect on their own surroundings and emotions.
Because sometimes, the most important stories are the ones happening quietly around us and "Change" is one of them.
